New Zealand’s #1 mindfulness and meditation course.

“I am so glad I did the course and would recommend it to everyone.” — Rosie Smith

What is Mindfulness and Meditation?

Mindfulness is a simple and practical way to learn to observe our thoughts, rather than be trapped by them and worrying about the past or the future.

Meditation is sitting formally, focusing on our breath or body sensations. As we do this we experience greater ease and freedom. In all Mindfulness Works courses we sit in chairs.

The Benefits of Mindfulness and Meditation

✅ Reduced stress, anxiety and worry

With practice and over time, mindfulness meditation can reduce the amount of stress and anxiety we experience.

✅ Better sleep

Experience better sleep with mindfulness meditation. The more relaxed we become, the easier it is to sleep.

✅ Greater self-acceptance and self-love

Mindfulness helps us realise we are perfectly OK just as we are, right here and right now.

✅ Healthier relationships through reduced reactivity

Rather than getting lost in a ‘fight or flight’ response when we feel annoyed, angry or threatened in our relationships, we have the tools to respond, rather than react.

✅ Greater feelings of joy and freedom

Mindfulness and meditation allows us to experience natural feelings of joy, calm and freedom.

✅ Increased self-awareness and emotional intelligence

Develop the wisdom and emotional intelligence to navigate life’s challenges in an easier, simpler and more rewarding way.

“Mindfulness has been shown to benefit our brains to such an extent that we can feel calmer, more aware, have an increased ability to focus and concentrate, remember things better and feel happier.” — NZ Mental Health Foundation Press Release July 2012

Learn From The Best

Mindfulness and Meditation teacher,
Bec Thomas-Squires

Let me introduce myself. I am the owner of Your Studio in Invercargill (a yoga and meditation studio) and a very proud Mumma to Belle and soon to be bubba #2.

I also happen to be the face you will see in all the yoga videos inside Your Studio Online, and the voice you will hear in the meditations.

Yoga and mindfulness for me are a way to stay connected with the moment and to get out of my head and although this sounds simple…. Once you have experienced being completely present, you will know why yoga and mindfulness seem to be everywhere!

My journey into yoga and mindfulness began when I was 18. The way I felt afterwards had me determined to learn more. Mindfulness is truly life changing which is why the style of yoga I teach is mindful movement, allowing you to spend an entire hour connected to yourself, rather than an hour trying to make yourself look like a pretzel.

I have studied mindfulness, meditation and yoga in New Zealand and in Australia, as well as remotely with teachers in Canada and America. I have personally completed several mindfulness courses; the first was an 8-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction course, which really propelled me to learn more about mindfulness, as I gained so much from it. I have completed 10-day silent meditation retreats and taught meditation in Australia and New Zealand to children in weekend retreats, to adults in courses, one-off classes and in private sessions.

I absolutely love introducing people to the valuable skill of mindfulness. It is not about making the world a perfect place; it is about uncovering our reactions and patterns, while arming ourselves with the skills to have the flexibility, perseverance and awareness to know how to make it through the many challenges life will throw at us.

Mindfulness and Meditation teacher,
Tammy Magness

Tammy is a yoga practitioner with nearly two decades of study, teaching and practice. Considering yoga as a mindful movement practice, the step towards mindfulness meditation was inevitable. Formal mindfulness practice and study began 4 years ago. Tammy continues to receive mentorship through Natasha Rix of the Mindfulness Education Group and is a Pause, Breathe, Smile facilitator.

Tammy is fortunate to live in Fiordland with her husband and two sons. She takes every opportunity to get out into the rugged beauty in her backyard.
